Zebra Framed

Description

And here's the framed version! The baby was a boy and his name is Zac :)

---

Whew! It took me nearly two months, but I finally finished this tapestry! It will be for my niece/nephew (gender unknown) who is due to be born on 9th February.

My sister helped my pick the pattern for this and I think it's also appropriately gender neutral. My father has also made a rocking horse so everyone kind of thinks we have a theme going =P.

By the way, I decided I wanted to name this Zebra, but the only name I currently have is 'Zebby' (or Zebi) and I'm not really happy with it, so suggestions would be great.

I'm going to post up the framed piece when I have it done as well as some in progress images when I get arround to collating them.

As per usual the vertical edges have really curled in because of the stitch. A trick I do to prevent fraying is to take 4 threads out from the sides and fold over the edges and running stitch them over like a hem. They still fray a bit, but much much less. You can see the creases from where I unfolded it. :)

The colours as usual are quite a bit brighter in reality.

Needlepoint stitch

"As per usual the vertical edges have really curled in because of the stitch." I'm guessing this is because you've done it all in tent stitch. I've corrected this problem in my own needlepoint pieces by working the background in basketweave stitch instead - sewing on the diagonal takes a bit more yarn, but it's a firmer, thicker backing, and the canvas isn't as distorted in the end. Other than that, you've done a really good job with it - and the boy will have something to treasure when he gets old enough to realize that you made it for him especailly.
